Everyone
says they seem to see more women riding motorcycles these days, but why?
My 31 year old son said he started because of the need for speed. As a
woman rider I like speed but prefer it on a track. I’ve loved motorcycles
since I was a teenager whether riding dirt or on the road alone in my
groove swaying back and forth on a winding road. I decided to ask other
female riders why they ride. Most women I asked didn’t experience
riding a motorcycle until they were over 40 after their first ride on
a friend or family member’s bike. For one it was another female
that influenced her to ride while some said I decided to become more independent.
I was told it sure is a great stress reducer that clears my mind of daily
worries. Many women started as passengers and still love being a passenger
while many became riders themselves. It’s been great meeting other
women riders sharing ride experiences or of course the latest in “Leather
Fashions”. Of course being from the Great Northwest they all love
the Majestic views, smells and sounds of nature you don’t experience
while riding in a cage. I agree with one female who stated “It’s
kind of sexy and a macho feeling at the same time when a passing vehicle
gives you a thumb's up or hollers out their window “YOU GO GIRL”!
